HOLIDAY PHOTOGRAPHY

Big Apple Portraits is a no session fee photographer. This means you do not pay an upfront fee. Our non-specialty appointments are 30 minutes. You will come in for your session and then return for a reveal appointment. At the reveal we you pick your package. During the winter holidays we offer different types of appointments: the 30 minute session which is the most popular, the mini session where you pre-pick your close-up background color and one set, or visits with our crazy unique Santa. New for 2020 – Outdoor Family Sessions.

Pre-Select Mini Holiday Sessions

Our Pre-Select Mini Holiday Sessions allow you to pre-pick 1 set including fun winter props and backgrounds and 1 color set for closeups. Packages start at $100.

All About Santa

Read more about our Santa. Not all Santas are alike. Some come from the North Pole and some come from New Jersey. Our Santa is the real deal. His beard is pullable and his smile genuine. His belly even laughs like a bowl full of jelly. And he doesn’t just sit there. Get ready to jump, tie him up with lights, or be his reindeer.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR SESSION TYPES?

Most Popular: Standard sessions

This session is perfect for families during the holidays looking for family keepsakes and holiday cards. In 30 minutes we will shoot at 3-6 backdrops and 20-30 poses for you to choose from. 30 minutes is the perfect amount of time for warm-up, performance, and a good time. It also allows time for family and sibling posing. Our more than 10 years of experience photographing families and children taught us that kids really have about 20 minutes before they are no longer interested in the session. We want the session to be fun and exciting so we move things along very quickly. It’s like a playdate! Our goal is always to focus on your children and the smiles.

We stylize our holiday sessions during November and December. The sets that are available for mini sessions are always available during our 30 minute session. You do not need to choose your sets in advance and we will absolutely shoot on at least 2 of the sets.

New for 2020 - Outdoor Family Sessions

We are so excited to offer Outdoor Family Sessions in Central Park for this holiday. These special sessions are perfect for a family photo shoot.
The sessions are 1 hour long and are available at either 7:00 am or 8:00 am.

We be offering morning sessions as locations are not busy and we can safely social distance.

Most Affordable: Pre-Select Holiday Mini Sessions

Mini sessions are for kids who want a quick visit for just a few signature shots. Many families have been coming to our studio year after year. Or maybe you just need a few shots for a holiday card. With the holiday mini you pre-select your closeup background color and favorite holiday set. You get to make the choices before you walk into the studio.

These sessions are one child per session. Additional kids are $30/each.

Plan your outfit to match one of our many backdrop colors. And we will shoot close-ups on those colors for those bright eyed pictures our studio is known for.
Decide on a fun holiday set or the plain white backdrop. We will have the set ready to go before your session. Love the PJs on the bed or the fancy sofa? There are lots of choices. We will shoot the one set only.

These mini sessions are perfect for those who know exactly what they want from their holiday session. Book anytime during the week or after school.

Something for 2020: Hanukkah Minis

This is the Upper West Side! While Kim usually sends out “Happy New Year” cards for her kids, 2020 brings new Hanukkah Mini sessions. Priced like our pre-select mini sessions, simply fill out the form and choose the Hanukkah sets.

Santa Mini Sessions

We are planning to have Santa this year however activities will be averrable for outdoor sessions.

It just isn’t Christmas without a visit to Santa Claus. Our Santa Claus is as jolly as they come and has a full, real beard! With this 10-minute session, your child can pose to their heart’s content with good ol’ Saint Nick. These unique sessions are VERY different then the mall Santa photo op. During each session we will shoot 2 different sets and incorporate our unique activities.** This year you will be able to choose your activities!

Jump with Santa!
Touch his beard
Give him a hug or high five
Arm wrestle him
Tangle him up in lights
Get in a snow ball fight
Be his reindeer
Don’t let him give you the big bag of coal!

** Activities depend on the age of your child. Each session will include at least 2-3 activities.

Mini Deluxe Moments with Santa

A theatrical and storytelling technique is coupled with the creation of nostaglic artwork during this magical encounter with Santa. This 15 minute experience is an opportunity to really spend quality time with Santa. This year you will be able to choose from one of 2 different stories. You can choose either Milk & Cookies with Santa or Painting Toys with Santa.

Magical moments with Santa follow a storybook sequence:

Before each session begins, your child will have an opportunity to write a letter to Santa using magic paper.
Kids will sneak into Santa’s workshop and wake Santa from his nap.
After giving your children’s handwritten letter to Santa, he will read their letter with them.
Santa will then check for their name in the “nice” book and then invite them to join him for milk & cookies or to help him paint toys.
Nice kids will then get to spend some quality time with Santa painting or snacking.
The story will end with a giant hug from Santa.

Session Fee: $350 for 5 magical artwork digital images and includes up to 2 children. Additional images & product prices vary. This session is great for all kids, especially kids who need a bit of time to relax in the studio.
