Everybody wants to look fabulous and confident for their holiday outdoor sessions so here are a few simple steps to follow in order to look amazing

1.The most important aspect is color

Choose 3-4 colors to build your family’s outfits.  We love seeing outfits built around greens, reds, blues, yellows, pinks, and neutrals.

Choose a color palette that works for you and your family.  Don’t be afraid to go outside the box with colors especially with the beautiful fall colors in the trees.

2.It is time to say goodbye to your summer clothes

While somedays the weather actually feels like fall or winter, that’s not always the case.  Even though it may feel warmer avoid those short sleeves and sandals.

For winter clothes, we like outerwear such as coats, jackets, peacoats,  ponchos,  puffy vests,  cloaks or capes, and of course jeans or slacks.  If you choose to wear a dress, definitely wear leggings or tights underneath.  Boots are a great item for everyone.

Choose cozy things to freshen up your outfits like a sweater, fleece jacket, trench coat.

Don’t forget about accessories:  hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, a thick knit scarf, a blanket scarf, cute knit hat, wool socks,  faux fur shawl,  earmuffs, or a muff, just to name a few.

3.Layer your clothes

It’s an outfit made up of clothes upon clothes, with each piece acting like a step or stage in the overall look.  Scarves are an essential component of layering.  Layering is best achieved when you keep your look to one or two color families.

4. What are the best shoes for outdoor sessions?

We don’t want to get your feet wet and cold,  please wear good shoes.   You can wear knee-high boots, ankle boots, hiking boots, waterproof boots, and wear thick warm socks.

Avoid crazy bright colored sneakers unless they go with your outfit.

5.Your clothes should be comfortable

We’ll definitely be walking around and having fun during the session. Make sure your clothing is comfortable and warm enough for outdoor activities.  Keep in mind too that we will be moving and walking for about an hour.  If you don’t think you or your kids would be comfy in it for that length of time, don’t wear it.

Since it is getting colder by the day, you also need to wear something cozy and layered.

We are truly looking forward to your session.  If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to respond to this email or call us at 212-600-4457.
